Recent Projects

The Warringah Freeway is one of the busiest and most complex road corridors in Australia. This project involves upgrading 4km of Warringah Freeway between North Sydney and Naremburn, upgrading six existing intersections including a new northbound on-ramp at High Street and constructing a new continuous southbound bus lane from Miller Street to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Alliance have been providing geotechnical inspections and supervision, with up to three full-time engineers dedicated to the project.

Western Harbour Tunnel – Stg 2

The Western Harbour Tunnel will be a new 6.5km motorway connecting the M4-M8 Link tunnels in Rozelle with the Warringah Freeway in North Sydney, creating a western bypass of the CBD.

Alliance is working closely with Acciona to provide investigation work and install water monitoring wells to support the development of the detailed design.

Alliance is providing a complete service of Geotechnical investigation work, Environmental monitoring and a wide range of Testing.

M12 Motorway West

The $494 million M12 Motorway (West) project involves construction of a 6km dual carriageway motorway from The Northern Road, Luddenham to the central package 400m east of Badgerys Creek. It comprises construction of three bridges, seven major cuts, seven major fills and a grade-separated interchange connected with the Western Sydney Airport.

Alliance has a dedicated full-time Senior Geotechnical Engineer on-site providing technical support, factual reporting, recommendations and memorandums.

Great Western Highway East – Phase 2

Together, the Australian and NSW Governments have committed more than $2.5 billion towards the East and West sections of the Great Western Highway Upgrade, providing major economic and safety benefits.

The West section comprises 5.3km of four-lane divided highway between Katoomba and Blackheath, designed for use by High Performance Vehicles including B-Doubles over 26m in length.

Alliance was engaged to provide geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting and laboratory testing services.

Sydney Metro & Southwest Line-wide

The Sydney Metro City and Southwest project is Australia’s biggest public transport project. The Line-wide works package invloves the design, construction and commissioning of major rail systems in the new twin 15km Sydney Metro tunnels and the expansion of the existing Sydney Metro Trains Facility.

Alliance is providing geotechnical and environmental engineering supervision during the construction phase. Our supervision involves piling, earthworks inspections, geotechnical investigations and waste classification. We are also performing comprehensive compaction and conformance testing services for bridges, utilities, foundations, pavements and retaining walls.

55 Pitt St

55 Pitt Street is a 53-storey tower development with three level basement located directly above the Sydney Metro tunnel.

Alliance provided geotechnical support to Metropolitan Demolitions Group which is the project’s appointed demolition and groundworks excavation contractor.

Kamay Ferry Wharves

The Kamay Ferry Wharves project involves the reinstatement of multi-user wharves at La Perouse and Kurnell to accommodate passenger ferries, tourism related commercial vessels and recreational vessels.

Works include:

2 x New commuter and Recreational Wharfs (1x La Perouse, 1x Kurnell)
New Hardscaping and landscaping
New carparking arrangements at La Perouse.

Kings Central

The $300-million Kings Central development in Werrington will comprise more than 300 single- and double-storey turnkey homes, built around internal parkland plus an industrial precinct.

Lendlease is developing the 28ha site which is located within walking distance to Werrington Train Station and a few minutes’ drive to the Great Western Highway.

Alliance has been working closely with Western Earthmoving (WEM) to carry out geotechnical consulting and testing of earthworks for service areas, roadworks and property lots.

The Northern Road – Stages 5 & 6

This major road project included doubling a 13km section of one of Western Sydney’s busiest arterial roads, to increase road capacity, reduce congestion and travel times, and support the region’s growing population.

Stretching from Glenmore Park to Luddenham, the project upgraded road infrastructure to a divided four-lane alignment and created public transport lanes, ultimately creating transport links to the new Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek.

Alliance maintained a full-time presence on-site and were responsible for providing construction phase geotechnical support to the construction team.

Parramatta Light Rail

Parramatta Light Rail is one of NSW Government’s latest major infrastructure projects, connecting Westmead and Carlingford with a two-way track spanning 12km through Camellia and the Parramatta CBD. The project presented numerous environmental challenges, due to historical land uses and the proximity to numerous and sensitive environmental receptors throughout the rail corridor. Alliance continues to provide consultancy support services to the primary contractor and their subcontractors on almost all sections of the project. The scope of services provided includes material/ waste classifications, groundwater monitoring well installation and monitoring events, acid sulfate soil assessments and occupational hygiene services.

Spring Farm Parkway

Stage 1 of Spring Farm Parkway includes: a new four-lane divided road extending about 1km from Menangle Road, west over the Hume Motorway to Menangle Park Urban Release Area; upgrading 600m of Menangle Road at Menangle Park including a new signalised intersection at the Spring Farm Parkway; North facing exit ramp from the Hume Motorway onto Spring Farm Parkway and Menangle Road; North facing entry ramp from Spring Farm Parkway and Menangle Road to the Hume Motorway; and a shared-use path on the southern side of Spring Farm Parkway to provide access to Broughton Anglican College.

Sydney Metro City & Southwest

Alliance are providing geotechnical and environmental engineering supervision during the construction phase. Our supervision involves piling, earthworks inspections, geotechnical investigations, waste classification.

Botany Rail Duplication

This project involves the duplication of rail track and bridges across the 2.9km freight line between Mascot and Botany along with construction of a 1.7km passing loop between Cabramatta and Warwick Farm.

Pavement Investigation

A commercial development is proposed at 650 Wallgrove Road, Horsley Park. As part of the development, Wallgrove Road is proposed to be widened in order to construct a deceleration lane to allow a safe access and exit to/from the property. Alliance carried out a pavement investigation, carried out subgrade material strength testing in our NATA-certified laboratory, and flexible pavement design.

Riverstone Wastewater System

Alliance provided an Asbestos Management Plan (AMP), review and approval of removalists ARCP, airborne fibre monitoring and the supervision of all asbestos removal by a Licensed Asbestos Assessor with post remediation validation sampling and reporting.

Meadowbank Education and Employment Precinct Project

Alliance has completed a range of works during the development and construction phases of the Schools at the Meadowbank Education and Employment Precinct Project. Alliance’s scope of works on the project included completion of Preliminary Site Investigation (PSI), Detailed Site Investigation (DSI) and supplementary investigations for the site. The findings of DSI and supplementary assessments informed the remedial works required for the site’s proposed land use. Alliance’s involvement throughout the investigation, remedial, and validation works has allowed for the on-time and on-budget completion of these projects and has enabled a streamlined construction phase for the project.

Bluegrass Solar Farm, Chinchilla (QLD)

Alliance provided details of the stratigraphical condition of the site, geotechnical design parameters and associated recommendations. Complex geological and ground condition of the site required detailed zonation map providing the bedrock depth and anticipated geotechnical constraints of the development. The geotechnical investigation results led to an alternative method for pile installation. The proposed development comprises the construction of a 200 Megawatts Photovoltaic Power Plant in a block of land with an approximate area of 550ha.

Sydney International Speedway

Alliance worked alongside Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure during the construction of the Sydney International Speedway project. Alliance was able to provide for the entire project 2 to 3 technicians on a full-time basis to cover the large amount of compaction and conformance testing associated with this project.

Alliance was able to guide the subcontractors working on the project to ensure they were aware of what TfNSW specifications were applicable to the project and the separate testing requirements of each specification. This allowed us to move forward in a timely manner on the most critical parts of the project.

Proposed Sports Courts, Warriewood NSW

Alliance provided a contamination assessment of existing fill materials to determine the land-use suitability. We also conducted an investigation to provide recommendations relating to site preparation, temporary works, excavations, design parameters for footings and ground floor slabs and roads and pavements. A site classification report was prepared in accordance with AS2870-2011 with advice about field subsoil drainage and potential tie into new/existing stormwater infrastructure, soil aggressiveness to buried steel and concrete (for sports lighting pile design).

Molong Solar Farm (NSW), Winton Solar Farm (VIC), Goonumbla Solar Farm (NSW), Bluegrass Solar Farm, Chinchilla (QLD)

Alliance Geotechnical provided a complete range of environmental, geotechnical and construction material testing services for various solar farms across Australia. Geotechnical investigation is provided to the client with the stratigraphical condition of the site together with required geotechnical parameters, constraints, subsurface conditions, and recommendations for the design of the proposed footings. In addition, Alliance's environmental and laboratory team provided waste classification services and specialist laboratory testing services.

WestConnex M4-M5 Link Tunnels

Alliance are providing geotechnical and environmental consulting services to LSBJV assisting with the construction phase compliance.

Transport Access Program (TAP) Upgrade

Alliance is provided Geotechnical investigation and construction phase engineering services to the transport Access Program Upgrade to a number of stations upgrades, this including: Lawson Train Station, Edgecliff Train Station, Platform 2- Mittagong Station, Fairy Meadow Station, Como Station, Arncliffe and Wolli Creek Stations

Goonumble Solar Farm

AG undertook a geotechnical investigation to assist in the design and construction of a photovoltaic plant and substation in an area of 182 ha. Our investigation report addressed geotechnical constraints, subsurface conditions, geotechnical parameters and recommendations for the design of the proposed footings. We also provided specialist UCS and consolidation soil testing.
