Prior to taking the occupation of a site, it is important to understand whether the land has been previously contaminated, to mitigate risks of you being held responsible for legacy contamination when vacating the site. It may also critical that you be able to demonstrate to the landowner that your operations have not contaminated the land after you have vacated.
