Arni Ibrcic

Arni is the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Group Manager at Alliance, bringing over 15 years of experience in materials testing and leadership. He blends technical expertise with a people-focused, solutions-driven approach. Arni leads the CMT management team, including the Operations, Laboratory, Quality, and Specialist Testing Managers. Providing direction, support, and clarity to ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes for clients.

He oversees both the Seven Hills main laboratory and the Wollongong Base Laboratory, ensuring alignment in standards, performance, and service delivery across locations. Technical Director

Craig Cowper

Craig has more than 25 years of experience and is the Technical Director for the Environment Division at Alliance. His extensive land contamination experience spans the property, infrastructure, manufacturing, petroleum, waste and residential sectors. Craig has worked on projects across Australia, with a particular focus on metropolitan and regional areas of NSW.

He is responsible for providing technical leadership to the team, fulfilling the role of project director, and advising clients on complex land contamination matters. Craig is also a Certified Environmental Practitioner – Site Contamination Specialist (CEnvP-SC).

Senior Project Scientist

Oliver Yan

Oliver is a Senior Environmental Consultant with over 15 years’ experience across Australia and the United States, specialising in Contaminated Land Management within private, industrial, transport, and infrastructure sectors. He draws on his broad expertise to assess land contamination risks and deliver practical, proportional solutions tailored to each project.

Oliver has led multidisciplinary teams of environmental consultants, engineers, and scientists on complex investigations, decommissioning, and remediation projects. He works closely with clients and stakeholders to provide strategic advice and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. His experience includes the successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects, making him a trusted leader in the field.

Team Leader

Sam Willis

Sam Willis is a Senior Project Scientist and CEnvP General with over 8 years’ experience in contaminated land and material management across the UK and Australia. He has led large scale site investigations and remediation works, with a strong focus on delivering practical and cost effective solutions. Sam is highly proficient in preparing and reviewing technical reports that meet both client expectations and regulatory standards.

He brings a solid understanding of industry guidance and environmental regulations in both regions, allowing him to navigate complex project requirements effectively. As a Team Leader, Sam supports junior staff and promotes high quality project delivery through collaboration, attention to detail, and a solutions focused approach.

Senior Project Scientist

Michael Dunesky

Michael is a Senior Environmental Scientist with over 15 years’ experience in contaminated land consultancy and environmental science. He has coordinated material classifications and remediation programs for major infrastructure projects, including the Northwest Growth Centre (Stages 1, 2 & 3A), Southwest Growth Centre Package 1, and the Priority Sewerage Program (2010–2014).

Michael manages several of our larger clients and projects, helping to identify and mitigate potential delays in approvals and construction schedules. His practical approach and deep understanding of environmental regulations make him an asset in delivering successful project outcomes.

Project Management Lead

Jason Roesler

Jason is a skilled Environmental Consultant and Project Lead with over 6 years of experience in environmental science. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Earth Science and Environmental Management, and has led projects across the property, infrastructure, waste and residential sectors. His core strengths include project management of large infrastructure projects, site investigations, groundwater sampling and monitoring, and data analysis, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance and environmental standards.

Jason also manages environmental programs, quality assurance plans, and monitoring reports tailored to client needs. His consultative style, proactive approach, and technical expertise enable him to deliver practical solutions that align with project goals in a timely manner. Sam Scully

Sam Scully is a Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) and Senior Project Scientist with over 9 years’ experience in the contaminated land sector. Sam is the Environmental Team Lead at the Wollongong office. Sam combines a strong academic foundation in Environmental Science with a focus on providing practical solutions to our clients.

His responsibilities include supporting junior staff, promoting high quality project delivery, client and subcontractor liaison, project management, and the preparation of fee proposals and tenders. Sam is highly experienced in contaminated land and groundwater investigations, remediation services, and the delivery of detailed technical reports. His leadership and practical approach ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality outcomes for clients and stakeholders alike.

Thalia Park-Ross

Thalia Park-Ross is a Senior Environmental Consultant with over 12 years’ experience in contaminated land assessment and environmental science. She has worked across a wide range of projects, managing client and subcontractor relationships, preparing fee proposals, and overseeing environmental investigations including water monitoring, soil vapour and ground gas analysis, and material classifications.

Thalia is highly skilled in project management and the preparation of detailed technical reports. Lachlan Taylor

Lachlan brings over 25 years of geotechnical consulting experience, including nearly two decades running his own consultancy. He specialises in geotechnical investigations, construction phase services and foundation assessments. His expertise includes basement excavation support, ground anchors, working platform design and slope stability analysis.

Associate Geotechnical Engineer

Shivcharan Gangele

Shiv has over 25 years of experience in geotechnical engineering internationally, including more than a decade in Australia. He has worked with leading consultancies and construction firms on major transport infrastructure projects. Shiv’s expertise includes managing investigations, construction and contracts, and coordinating with clients and stakeholders.

His project portfolio includes work with RMS, AECOM, TfNSW and Skanska, both locally and internationally. Shiv is known for his technical leadership, flexible attitude and strong communication skills, making him a key asset in multidisciplinary teams.

Zubair Khan

Zubair is a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with over 10 years of experience in investigation, reporting and construction phase services. Amir Travasol

Amir has over 18 years of experience across residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects. His expertise includes site investigations, data interpretation, geotechnical modelling, design, reporting and construction phase support. Amir also prepares proposals and safety plans and leads multidisciplinary teams.

His broad experience across multiple states and sectors enables him to deliver practical, high quality solutions tailored to each project’s unique requirements. Amir is known for his leadership, technical insight and collaborative approach.

GI Operations Manager, Senior Engineer

Jhan-Paule Arbizo

JP serves as an Engineering Geologist for Alliance and has over 4 years’ experience in his current field. His main role is undertaking geotechnical site investigations with significant experience for rail infrastructure across Sydney. He also provides construction phased support services such as bored pile inspections and detailed geological rock mapping. He assists with project management, logistics, and quotations as well as supporting the team with the use of GIS mapping and ensuring the quality control of digitised geotechnical borehole logs.

Team Leader - Design and Instrumentation, Associate Engineer

Guillermo Gomez

Guillermo has over 15 years of geotechnical experience and holds degrees in civil and geotechnical engineering. He has led projects across Australia and APAC, including a multi-country services agreement. Guillermo’s expertise includes foundation design, retaining structures, deep excavations and geotechnical risk assessments.

He is proficient in advanced design software and provides advisory services for complex infrastructure projects. Guillermo’s global perspective, technical depth and leadership skills make him a versatile and effective team leader.

Principal Engineer

Hadi Ajorlou

Hadi has over 20 years of geotechnical experience in consulting roles across Australia and overseas. He has worked on large-scale projects involving feasibilityas studies, design, construction and operations. Hadi’s expertise includes foundations, retaining structures, tunnels, slope stability, earthworks, and soft soil treatment as well as 2D/3D numerical analysis. He has led multidisciplinary teams and collaborated across various design disciplines.

Hadi’s ability to manage complex projects and integrate geotechnical solutions into broader engineering frameworks makes him a key contributor to successful project outcomes.

Associate Geotechnical Engineer

Kah Lee

Kah is an Associate Geotechnical Engineer with over 19 years of experience across road, rail, tunnel, residential and commercial projects. He combines advanced academic research in soil movement with practical design and problem-solving. CPS Team Leader, Experienced Engineer

Kevin Tran

Kevin has over 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, supported by dual degrees in civil engineering and commerce. He has worked on a wide range of infrastructure projects including roads, rail, water, airports and ports. As CPS Team Leader, Kevin leads the Construction Phase Services (CPS) team, manages client and subcontractor relationships, and oversees investigations and reporting.

Ian brings over 30 years of experience across the civil, geotechnical, environmental and mining industries, both in Australia and internationally. As Manager of Alliance Geotechnical’s specialty geomechanical testing division, Ian oversees client engagement, strategic development and innovation within the department. He is a long-standing NATA Technical Assessor in Geotechnical and Civil Construction Materials Testing, specialising in soil and rock mechanics since the mid-1990s.

Ian’s deep technical knowledge, leadership and commitment to quality have positioned him as a trusted expert in the field. His focus on continuous improvement and collaboration ensures the delivery of reliable, high-standard testing services across a wide range of projects.

Rasoul Abdolvand

Rasoul brings over 13 years of experience in geotechnics, geology, and quality assurance across civil, mining, dam, tunnel, and road projects. As Laboratory Quality Manager at Alliance Geotechnical, he oversees quality systems, audits, corrective actions, and proficiency testing to ensure compliance with technical and regulatory standards. He holds a Master’s in Engineering Geology and specialises in geotechnical lab testing, ISO/IEC 17025 compliance, and NATA accreditation.

Certified as a Radiation Safety Officer, Rasoul has undertaken comprehensive training in laboratory operations and advanced testing procedures. His strengths in data analysis, process improvement and technical oversight support Alliance’s commitment to accurate, reliable results. Matthew Redfern

Matthew brings over 15 years of experience in construction materials testing, with a strong focus on complex infrastructure projects. He is highly regarded for his ability to provide on-site technical advice, particularly around specification conformance and quality assurance. Since joining Alliance Geotechnical, he has progressed from Junior Geotechnician to Field Technician and then to Project Coordinator—a testament to his hard work, attention to detail, and strong team-oriented mindset.

In his current role, Fouad works closely with clients, site teams, and engineers to ensure projects run smoothly from initiation through to completion. Josh Brigham

Josh has over 10 years of experience in the construction materials testing (CMT) industry, with a background spanning both the UK and Australia. Since joining Alliance, he has progressed from Field Technician to Project Coordinator and now Laboratory Manager, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a hands-on approach throughout his career.

Soil and Rock Speciality Lead

Zhang (Simon) Shi

Dr. Zhang (Simon) Shi has over nine years of experience in geotechnical and rock mechanics specialized testing and currently serves as our Specialty Technical Lead. He is responsible for staff training, testing innovation, and technical development.

Dr. Shi holds a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering and has a strong research and development background in unsaturated soil and rock mechanics, multiphase flow in porous media, and reservoir geomechanics. His contributions to the field include 15 published technical papers and numerous presentations at international conferences, reflecting his commitment to advancing geotechnical engineering practices.

Natasha Djordjevic

Natasha is a motivated lab professional with over two years of experience and a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Microbiology). She recently completed her Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques and is now pursuing a Diploma in Laboratory Technology. Passionate about practical, hands-on work, Natasha is developing skills in geotechnical testing while continuously expanding her technical knowledge. Detail-oriented, hardworking, and always up for a laugh, she brings energy and precision to every task.

QLD Lab Manager

Brett Bellingham

Brett has over 16 years of experience in construction materials testing and has managed and coordinated testing for major infrastructure projects, including Sydney Water. He recently relocated from Sydney to Queensland to lead our QLD laboratory, where he oversees operations and ensures high testing standards. Brett’s technical expertise and leadership make him a key asset as we expand in the region.
