10/50 Vegetation Clearance Code

The 10/50 Vegetation Clearing Scheme gives people living near the bush an additional way of being better prepared for bush fires. The scheme allows people in a designated area to clear trees on their property within 10 meters of a home and clearing underlying vegetation such as shrubs (but not trees) on their property within 50 meters of a home, without seeking approval.

Tree removal is not permitted on slopes greater than 18 degrees and pruning of trees is only permitted on slopes greater than 18 degrees provided at least 75% of the original canopy cover is retained, except in accordance with conditions identified in a Geotechnical Engineer Assessment Report undertaken for that purpose.
