Geotechnical Instrumentation & Monitoring

Geotechnical instrumentation & monitoring can assist design, construction and operation of a variety of assets. Providing observational and/or instrument verification of geotechnical parameters measures real-time behavior of assets to compare and confirm the designed performance. This is particularly important when there is a high degree of uncertainty in relation to ground conditions, expected performance and design assumptions or where performance is critical.

This monitoring is typically carried out for:

  • unstable embankments and natural slopes
  • ground subsidence or heaving
  • inclinometer installation, monitoring & assessment

Geotechnical instrumentation comprises the following:

  • review of survey for settlement, heave and lateral displacements
  • vibrating wire piezometer installation & monitoring
  • long term ground water monitoring
  • vibration monitoring
