Acid Sulphate Soil Management

The environment team at Alliance will provide you with the right information on managing ASS risks on your site, whether that be preliminary advice from review of ASS risk maps, through to implementation of detailed sampling and analysis of soil and groundwater. If ASS is present on your site, our specialists will prepare an ASS management plan, detailing the procedures to follow during excavation, treatment and disposal of ASS impacted soils.

Preliminary advice is just a phone call away

Disturbance or mismanagement of acid sulfate soils (ASS) on your project has the potential to create significant environmental impact. The presence of ASS may also impact sub-surface assets such as foundations, footings and services, if not designed adequately. Determining whether there is an ASS risk on your site is relatively simple, but should only be undertaken specialists.

 What are Acid Sulphate Soils?

Acid sulphate soils is the common name given to naturally occurring soil and sediment containing iron sulfides. When these natural occurring sulfides are disturbed and exposed to air, oxidation occurs and sulfuric acid is ultimately produced.
